Didem Unat is a faculty at Koç University, Istanbul, Turkey. She is known for her work in designing programming models, performance tools, and runtime systems for emerging parallel architectures. She received her Ph.D. at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and later received the prestigious and highly competitive Luis Alvarez Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). Since 2014 she has led her own Parallel and Multicore Computing group at Koç University. She is the recipient of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship from the European Commission (2015), the Young Scientists Award (2019) from the Science Academy of Turkey and British Royal Society-Newton Advanced Fellowship (2020.) She also delivered the first TEDx talk dedicated to supercomputing. She is the first researcher from Turkey to obtain the ERC grant in Computer Science from the European Commission (2020). Currently, she is the coordinator of a EuroHPC project of 6 partners.
