I graduated from Boston University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. During my time at school, I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do with this degree, but I knew that I wanted to do something in the tech industry. After I graduated, I joined Oracle’s cloud division where I focused on cloud security. After a year in this position, I moved to the High-Performance Computing team where I was thrust into an unfamiliar world. Everyone on my team had years of experience and I’m thankful that they were able to share that with me. I have only been on the HPC team for a year, but I have learned a lot in this time. I now lead the Product Engineering Feedback Program, which is a program that establishes a regular channel between our customers and engineering teams, with the goal of building the right roadmaps to improve the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure platform for Oracle’s HPC/Big Compute customers. In addition to this program, I help run our benchmarking program for various industry and non-industry specific applications. There was a huge learning curve when it came to benchmarking, not only having to learn about the architecture of the clusters themselves, but also the applications. Now I feel more comfortable benchmarking with the hands-on experience I’ve been able to get by helping customers as well as for internal development. Before joining the HPC team, I wasn’t overly familiar with High Performance Computing; but now I have a great appreciation for the role HPC plays in solving some of the world’s most pressing challenge, and for the HPC community overall. The work that people are doing in this space is amazing and I’m so glad to be a part of it and learn from everyone in here.
