Ali Pinar

Biography
Ali Pinar is a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, California. He earned his PhD. in computer science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research covers a broad range with a common theme of combinatorial methods. He has worked on modeling and analysis of networks, graph mining, sampling algorithms on graphs, optimization problems in power systems, combinatorial scientific computing, and data mining in general. His work has won three best paper awards in top data mining conferences (SDM13, KDD13, and ICDM15). For the last three years he has been leading a Lab-wide research initiative, on rigorous cyber experimentation. He has initiated the SIAM Workshop on Networks series and SIAM Conference on Mathematics of Data Science. He is recognized as a Distinguished member of ACM.
