Biography
Jan Stephan acquired his diploma in computer science in 2019 at TU Dresden, Dresden, Germany. During his undergraduate studies he focused on software engineering, systems architecture and technical computer science. He later specialized in GPU programming and high-performance computing.
After graduation he started working for the Center of Advanced Systems Understanding (CASUS) in Görlitz, Germany where he is currently employed as a PhD student. His research topics include performance analysis, utilizing new hardware architectures in the field of HPC (such as FPGAs) and the design of the HPC ecosystem surrounding the alpaka library.
Due to his work on alpaka's future SYCL back-end, he also became a member of the Khronos SYCL Advisory Panel in 2020.
