Christopher Stone
Biography
Dr. Christopher Stone has been developing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and other scientific simulation software applications for more than 20 years and has been a high-performance computing (HPC) research engineer for the past 16 years. Dr. Stone is a Senior Research Scientist with the National Institute of Aerospace where he is developing CFD software for next-generation HPC supercomputers in collaboration with NASA Langley. Prior to joining NIA, Christopher was consultant to US government research laboratories as well as with universities and private industry helping to improve the performance, efficiency, and productivity of scientific simulation software on massively parallel HPC systems. Dr. Stone specializes in scientific software modernization and optimization for next-generation HPC systems and incorporating software engineering principles and practices into scientific software development processes. Christopher earned a BS in Physics from Wofford College (1998) and a Ph.D. from the Georgia Inst. of Technology (2003) where he studied turbulent combustion with Large Eddy Simulation CFD methods.
