Biography
Dr. David Eder is a recognized leader in HPC applications. At the University of Hawaii run MHPCC (Maui High Performance Computing Center), he provides DoD with guidance on emerging computing architectures and programming approaches. He is Program Manager for MHPCC’s hypersonic benchmarking effort. He is working to make sure that DoD codes are performant, productive and portable by supporting the use of advanced programming models, e.g., OpenMP. Prior to Hawaii he was at DOE’s Livermore Lab where he was the head of facility modeling for the world’s largest laser. He is a recipient of the prestigious Alexander von Humbolt Award. Dr. Eder has over 100 publications and 4000 citations. He has presented at 13 IEEE-SC HPC tutorials. He received a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Princeton University and a BA in Physics and Math from University of Colorado at Boulder.
