Soumya Dutta

Biography
Dr. Soumya Dutta is a full-time scientist in the Information Sciences group (CCS-3) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Before accepting a scientist position, Dr. Dutta was a postdoctoral researcher at the Applied Computer Sciences group (CCS-7) at LANL from June 2018-July 2019, mentored by Dr. Roxana Bujack and Dr. James Ahrens. Dr. Dutta obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the Ohio State University in May 2018 where he was part of the GRAVITY (GRAphics & VIsualization sTudY) research group and was supervised by Prof. Han-Wei Shen. Prior to joining Ohio State, Dr. Dutta completed his B. Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the West Bengal University of Technology in 2009. During his undergraduate studies, Dr. Dutta worked under the supervision of Prof. Bidyut B. Chaudhuri at Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) Kolkata, and Prof. Madhurima Chattopadhyay at Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) from 2009-2011 to pursue research in image processing. Before coming to the United States for his doctoral studies, Dr. Dutta briefly worked at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) from Feb. 2010-July 2011 as an Assistant Systems Engineer (Trainee).
