Biography
Alessio Sclocco obtained his PhD on ‘Accelerating Radio Astronomy with Auto-tuning’ at the VU University Amsterdam, during which he has also worked as a scientific programmer at ASTRON, the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy. Alessio is the main author of a highly optimized and auto-tuned GPU pipeline for detecting fast radio bursts and other radio astronomical transients. After his PhD, Alessio joined the Netherlands eScience Center. In 2019, he was a visiting scholar at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Alessio is very passionate about helping others to achieve high performance with their GPU codes and has participated as a mentor in GPU Hackathons organized by Nvidia.
