David H. Bailey is recently retired from the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, and is also a Research Associate with the University of California, Davis. He has published over 300 papers and several books in the field of high-performance computing and computational mathematics. He has received the Sidney Fernbach Award from the IEEE Computer Society, the Gordon Bell Prize from the Association of Computing Machinery, the Chauvenet and Merten Hesse Prizes from the Mathematical Association of America, and the Levi L. Conant Prize from the American Mathematical Society.
